1991 Registered Beswick and Openshaw as a Credit Union Number 235C

 1999 Became east Manchester Credit Union

 2000 Opened first shop on Beswick precinct

 2001 Started first major expansion with Eastserve project (also Loan Guarantee Scheme)

 2006 Department of Works and Pension Growth Fund contract/transfer of engagements from Gorton Credit Union

 2007 Became Manchester Credit Union-opened second shop in Miles Platting

2008 Growth Fund 2 Transfer of engagement form Wythenshawe Credit Union

 2009 New premises opened in Moss Side and Wythenshawe

 2011 Common Bond Extension to cover Rochdale and Tameside Money Spinner

 2012 Further extension of common bond see map

 2015 On International Credit Union Day (ICUD) 15 October the Flagship City Centre Branch was opened.





The credit union has moved to a new city premises at 24 Queen Street to cope with demand from new membership. Since the move there has been an increase in our footfall with the premises being more visible. With the move the Credit Union has launched a Gold Saver account available to individual and corporate members. It has a dividend that is 1.5% higher than the organisations instant access accounts and is aimed at longer term savers. Since 2000 the credit union has lent more than £60m to members, and from June 2017-July 2018 – 5,915 new savings accounts have been opened, 14,947 loans have been granted totalling £8.8m and the credit union has saved people more than £5 million in interest.
