1st Alliance (Ayrshire) Credit Union was founded in April 2004 from the combined strengths of Stevenson Credit Union and Kilwinning Credit Union. 1st Alliance covers the whole of Ayrshire, anyone living or working in the county can become a member. Allerdale Credit Union, started in 1997 Allerdale Credit Union is in negotiations with Cleator Moor & District Credit Union to merge from 1st October 2015. Bakers Food and Allied Workers' Credit Union Limited Registered on 20 June 1997 with the registered office located in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The Credit Union is open to members from all over the British Isles and as a result of this it has a large base in which to target new members. Such a strategy could lead to a significant increase in member numbers while also increasing income levels for potential distribution back to the members.

Basildon Credit Union Limited Formally trading as Basildon Council Employees Credit Union Limited. From 1987 and launched in June 2008 by MP Angela Smith of the co-op party. The common bond being changed for those people residing or being employed within the Basildon district. In 2012 they awarded £70k with the consortium of Credit Unions Together (CUT) that includes Colchester, Harlow and Holdfast Credit unions receiving the grant from Essex County Council. As a result of this grant, Basildon Credit Union has introduced a range of offers for families. The 6th February 1967 was the date of the first ever meeting of Ballymena Credit Union. 50 years on the credit union has member savings of over £19 million pounds with over 11500 adult and junior members and have issued loans of over £7 million pounds from their offices in William Street. Members can buy oil stamps at a cost of £5 each and build them up to assist with future purchases of heating oil. Berkshire cu A group of local people first got together in Reading in 2003 to bring the benefits of a Credit Union to the town. The group led by Stephen Magee worked steadily to gather support from local organisations and in 2007 the Reading Credit Union began its operations when member number one was signed up. The Reading Credit Union grew steadily and by early 2009 had over 400 saving members and a developing loans business. During this period many requests were received from other communities across the county of Berkshire to expand its area of operations. As a result in 2009, a Project Group was set up to expand the Reading Credit Union. The project successfully completed its work when in August 2010, Community Savings and Loans Ltd came into being. This new organisation, building outwards from Reading now covers all areas of Berkshire.

Camlin Credit Union Limited The credit union started from small beginnings in March 1989 trading for the past 30years to provide a friendly and courteous financial service to members, for the overall benefit of the community. The credit union is open to anyone who lives in the general area surrounding Crumlin and Glenavy, covering all of postcode BT29 and parts of postcodes BT28 and BT67. Members present at the AGM meeting in 2018 approved a dividend of 1% on shares and easy share accounts and a rebate of 10% of loan interest paid in the previous year. The North Wales Credit Union was established in 2010 following the merger of Caledfryn, Clwyd Coast, Llandudno, Wrexham and Y Llechen Credit Unions. In May 2015, Hafren Credit Union merged with North Wales Credit Union. North Wales Credit Union AGM on 30th January 2016 approved changing the name to Cambrian Credit Union. We have over 14,000 adult members and 1,500 junior savers. We employ over 30 members of staff and have over 150 volunteers.

The Credit Union was first registered in April 1993 as Calderdale MBC Employees Credit Union. An application was made to seek to gain approval from the regulator to alter the common bond to a ‘live or work’ qualification which would enable the Credit Union to offer its services to a wider membership base. In July 2003, a number of smaller Credit Unions within the Borough merged to become Calderdale Credit Union. there is a small office in the centre of Todmorden which is open three times a week. Staff moved into the new building in December 2013. In August 2017, the Credit Union has expanded into Kirklees, merged with St Patricks in Huddersfield opening up a new office. The new office’s central location on Queens Street is designed to restore local access to credit union services. The first Credit Union in Clackmannanshire was Tullibody Credit Union. In 2004 it merged with Alloa & Sauchie Savings Group to form Clackmannanshire Credit Union which now covers the whole of the county. Clonard Credit Union was established on 6th December 1964. The motivating force was Father Hugh McLaughlin of Clonard Monastery. Early business was conducted in Waterville Hall and in 1965 moved to newly acquired premises on the corner of Kashmir Road and Clonard Gardens. In 1984 Father Hugh McLauglin opened new purpose premises. Membership has grown steadily over the years and continues to do so.

The Congleton Community Credit Union May 1995 Known locally as Congleton’s best kept secret, there is a local savings and loan cooperative, regulated and approved by The Financial Services Authority, for those who live or work in the CW12 area.

After a meeting in 12 March 1965 in the townhall, Cookstown Credit Union came to life. The first collection came to £26. The first premises were a room at a property on William St offered by a Mr A. Eastwood. Opening times then were Fridays 5 till 7pm as membership increased the time was extended to 9pm. One year on and the loan book was heading over £2500. 1969 was when it was decided to purchase premises on Molesworth Street and the first meeting was held in August 1970 in the future permanent credit union home. After 21 years the membership was over 10 thousand, Shares had reached over £400K and loans issued to the value of over £300K. The office opened except Wednesdays and Sundays. Members continue the opportunity to save and borrow with savings accounts and affordable loans and with the introduced in 2018 the online Banking App for Apple and Andriod phones has enhanced members experience. The credit union continues over many years to take part in the annual art competition. Chryston and District Credit Union Limited The Credit Union was started in 1987by a number of volunteers operating from the Pivot Community Centre in Moodiesburn. First Scottish University credit Union ltd Established in 1990 to serve the employees of Heriot-Watt University, membership is now open to any employee of Heriot-Watt University, Napier University, Edinburgh University or Queen Margaret University. Kent Savers Credit Union Was registered in July 2009 as Kent and Medway Financial Inclusion Partnership Ltd and set up in 2010 as Kent Savers Credit Union Limited to provide affordable financial services to people in the county. Anyone living or working in the historical county of Kent – that is the area currently administered by Kent County Council, Medway Unitary Authority or The London Borough of Bexley – can join Kent Savers. December 2013 began trading as Murston Community Bank. Since January 2016, Kent Savers has made 255 loans worth £530,000, and members now have £1.35 million deposited with their credit union.

Taunton Deane and West Somerset Credit Union Limited Discussions were held in early 1996 about a credit union for Taunton and according to records after a series of training sessions and credit union awareness visits the credit union was registered Taunton Credit Union Limited in April of 1998. It was prior to 2004 when numerous discussions took place about merging with West Somerset Credit union who had been set up in the late 1990’s. Undeb Credyd Y Barcud Coch Cyfyngedig Started out in July 1995 as Builth and Llanwrtyd Credit Union Limited. One suspects with the widening of a common bond they changed to Undeb Credyd Y Barcud Coch Cyfyngedig in June 2006. However later that month they began trading according to records as Red Kite credit union until February 2018 to trading as Red Kite Savings and Loans. The common bond covers the whole of the County of Powys to anyone living or working in Powys is eligible to join. The credit union offers a savings account for Junior members under the age of 16 from birth. GMB Credit Union Ltd GMB Credit Union was established in 1999 but was registered with the FCA as Thorne Credit Union Limited in June 2002 later trading as TCU Money from June 2012. In 2014 the TCU Money introduced a deposit account of £5 for new junior accounts to encourage members children or grandchildren to save and the Member scheme gives £10 for every new account opened by someone the members introduce. The credit union continues to evolve and the new name of GMB Credit Union occurred in 2016 and continuing for members and their families nationally. The AGM in 2017 agreed a 2% dividend on all credit union easy access savings accounts for the 2016 financial year. 2018 saw the credit union partner with the Callcredit to offer all GMB members free for life access to the Noddle Service. Noddle gives members unlimited access to the data that is used to determine their credit score. Further innovation arrived in January 2019 that involved the introduction of NIVO a secure messaging app enabling members to share data and information as part of joining and applying for Loans and saving accounts. Pioneer Credit Union Ltd (Middlesbrough Community Bank) The credit union was a result of the following credit unions coming together over a number of years Park End Credit Union registered July 1992, Hemlington Credit Union registered May 1993, Central Middlesbrough credit union registered June 1994 and A19 Middlesbrough Credit Union June 2002. Becoming Pioneer Credit Union in 2009 later changing in April 2017 Pioneer Credit Union and Middlesbrough community bank when they were joined by 5 Communities (5Cs) Credit Union. The Credit union had served the communities of Grove Hill, Saltersgill, Easterside, Beechwood and Marton Grove since 1991. This merger had taken the membership of Pioneer to almost 3000, assets of the organisation to over £1m. In 2016 they opened shop premises on Brentnall Street. Cumbernauld Central Credit Union Limited Was registered in January 1999 has over 1000 including 400 Junior members from 10 schools. The founding members continue along with new volunteers to provide the services the thriving membership deserves. May 2012 was the introduction of the Facebook page giving members notification knowledge of what is going on with the credit union and more. A dividend of 2% was paid for a number of years. March 2015 supported by the local Council's Future Funds Initiative, £10 for each S1 pupil opening an account, the £10 was also be paid to existing Junior Savers.
